Johnny Copland

Bass

A multi-instrumentalist, Johnny was a finalist in UK Young Guitarist of the Year 1998, before picking up the bass and studying a Jazz postgrad at Leeds College. He began his professional career in Scotland in 2005, before relocating and working extensively in London from 2007. His bass playing has led him to perform on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge and C4 with UK band The Crystal Fighters, playing festivals worldwide with Brazilian composer Marcos Valle, touring Europe with Israeli drummer Asaf Sirkis and appearing on the BBC1 Graham Norton Show with Barry Manilow. His London West End theatre credits include Thriller Live, Jersey Boys, Stephen Ward (live and cast recording), Commitments, Mamma Mia and Kinky Boots. He has also taught bass on the BMus degree course at the ICMP, London. He is more recently active as a Music Producer and has had his production/writing work selected and played on BBC Radio 1Xtra as ‘Unsigned Track of the Week’.
