Record-breaking “Thriller Live” opens a new West End booking period

October 24, 2018

Thriller Live will celebrate its 10th birthday in the West End on January 22

On April 9 it will become the 13th Longest Running West End Musical in history

Thriller Live has just celebrated its 4,000th West End performance with guest stars led by Peter Andre performing for one night only in aid of The Prince’s Trust, the start of a year-long partnership with the charity

A second company is touring Poland, Germany, Dubai, Kuwait and across the UK

The champagne is on ice on Shaftesbury Avenue as Thriller Live, the concert spectacular which showcases Michael Jackson’s unforgettable music and dazzling choreography prepares to celebrate 10 years as the Lyric Theatre’s longest running success.

Today it releases 190,000 seats as producers announce a new booking period to Sunday 29 September, 2019.

The corks will finally pop on January 22 when original cast members and singers and dancers from the show across the decade will celebrate this amazing West End milestone.

Then on Tuesday April 9, at the 4,625th West End performance, Thriller Live will overtake Miss Saigon to become the 13th longest running musical of all time.

A year-long partnership with The Prince’s Trust charity started with Peter Andre and other celebrity guests appearing in a fundraising gala for the show’s 4,000th West End performance and will next include the Lyric Theatre getting a Halloween makeover by youngsters supported by the Prince’s Trust.

A second Thriller Live company is touring Poland, Germany, Dubai, Kuwait and the UK.

Thriller Live is unlike other West End musicals. There is no script or story, it is instead a eye-popping celebration of Michael Jackson’s music and dance legacy, bringing to life on stage his distinctive high-energy dancing and the pulsating sound of many of pop’s greatest hits. The show changes each year with new numbers added, and features specially created video footage and effects and dazzling choreography by the show’s award-winning director, Gary Lloyd.

Thriller Live first Moonwalked into the Lyric Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue in 2009 and it holds the record as the longest ever run of a show since the theatre started entertaining the capital in December 1888. Thriller Live has now been seen by over 5 million people in 33 countries and played over 6,500 performances worldwide, never failing to get a standing ovation!
